What you’ll do in this role at memoQ

As a Senior Development Team Lead, you will

  • Lead a team of 4-6 developers working closely with a Product Manager, a designer and 1-2 testers.
  • As our development teams work very autonomously, you’ll be responsible for the team to make the best technical choices and work together in a productive way.
  • By hiring the right people and providing competency development to the developers in your team, you ensure that your team is capable of creating software from ideation to deployment.
  • Work with the developers in your team on their respective career paths.
  • Help the people in your team remove what blocks them from executing their tasks.
  • Work together with a Product Manager on prioritizing work that that gives the most value to the users.
  • Bring new ideas and help to develop our growing organisation.
  • Work with developers to identify areas for technical improvement and add these into our technical roadmap. Regularly prioritize items from the technical roadmap together with the Product Managers and other Development Team Leads.

  • You have at least 2 years of experience in leading a team
  • You command at least one programming language and have some knowledge about the most important software engineering and computer science concepts
  • You speak and write English fluently
  • You're a quick thinker, able to solve complex problems with ease
  • You're conscientious and organized, delivering what you promise, meeting deadlines, and working to completion despite any distractions
  • You're happy to dive deep into the details and get your hands dirty when needed
  • You're not rattled by change and ambiguity, but actively seek to try new approaches and change course flexibly when it makes sense
  • You're able to prioritize and break down long-term goals into manageable milestones and bring out the best in other people to ensure team success

What will really knock our socks off

  • You have experience creating, running and optimizing an agile development process
  • You have working knowledge of scaling organizations and/or managing large code bases
  • You have working knowledge in data driven decision making and using metrics associated with software development
  • You have working knowledge of areas in close relationship to software development, such as product management, testing, project management, etc.
